A couple of post ago, I told you that I upgraded the HD in my laptop. After I reinstalled MacOS X on it, I thought about installing linux on it (I had it installed in VirtualBox before). So I went online and downloaded the newest release of Kubuntu with KDE4 via Bittorent (Yes, I am still seeding) After I burned the iso to a CD I installed rEFIt on my MacBook and set it to show the boot menu on every start-up
/efi/refit/enable-always.sh
I then opened up Boot Camp Assistant and repartitioned my HD to have a 16GB Windows partition; then after boot camp finished repartitioning my drive- I quit the application. Next I put the Kubuntu install CD in my drive and restarted my macbook while holdind down the ‘C’ key. After Kubuntu booted I was prompted to select my language, so I used the up.down arrow key to select my selection, the pressed the return key. I next had to select what I wanted, since I wanted to install, I pressed the down key once and pressed return. Once I got the the partitioning screen, I selected ‘Specify Partitions Manually’ and clicked Next. At this point you shoud note that most linux’s willsee SATA drive as SSCI drives. When I got to the ‘Prepare paartions screen, I found my Windows partition in the list and clicked at, for the ‘Use as’ menu I selected ‘Ext4′ (You Could also use Ext2, Ext3, JFS, ReiserFSk or XFS; I do not recomed the others), Checked ‘Format’ and made the ‘Mount point’ ‘/’. After that I did not do anything specal, I just went throough the rest of the menus. The Install was preety fast compared to Mac or Windows system instalations. When it completed and rebooted, I selected ‘Linux’ from the rEFIt boiot menu, as I pressed return I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.
It worked for me, I hope it works for you!
